Solar Inverter Model Number Decoder
One line: The number in a model name is a machine code, not the wattage. HE200-7200-F is a 6200 W inverter. Read the parts below and the naming stops being confusing.

The structure
HE200-6500-T-I5
│ │ │ └─ I5 = protection: IP54 (outdoor)
│ │ └──── T = battery voltage: 24 V
│ └───────── 6500 = machine code
└─────────────── HE200 = series
Part 1 — Series
| Series | Position | Architecture |
|---|---|---|
| HE200 | Main line — residential and light commercial | High frequency |
| HE300 | Higher power — commercial, parallel expansion to 99 kW | High frequency |
| HE310 | Industrial-frequency unit for heavy inductive loads | Low frequency |
| L2 | Portable all-in-one storage (300 W / 500 W / 1200 W) | — |
| H3 / H4 | Residential all-in-one storage (W = outdoor, N = indoor) | — |
| H3B / H4B | LiFePO4 battery packs | — |
Part 2 — Battery voltage suffix
This is the part most often misread, and the one that damages equipment if ignored.
| Suffix | Battery voltage | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| O | 12 V | HE200-2500-O · HE200-3000-O-I5 |
| T | 24 V | HE200-4200-T · HE200-6500-T · HE300-4200-T |
| F | 48 V | HE200-7200-F · HE200-12000-F · HE300-7200-F |
A T model and an F model with similar numbers are different machines requiring different battery banks. Connecting the wrong battery voltage can destroy the inverter's capacitor bank.
Part 3 — Parallel and protection suffixes
| Suffix | Meaning | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| P | Parallel — single or three-phase parallel operation | HE200-6500-FP · HE200-7200-FP · HE300-12000-FP |
| I5 | IP54 enclosure — sealed, outdoor installation | HE200-3000-O-I5 · HE200-7200-F-I5 · HE300-12000-FP-I5 · HE300-7200-FP-I5 |
Written sequence: series - machine code - battery voltage - protection/parallel. So HE200-7200-F-I5 is a HE200 series, 7200 code, 48 V battery, IP54 enclosure. HE200-7200-FP is a HE200 series, 7200 code, 48 V battery, parallel-capable. Note that P attaches directly to the voltage letter (FP, never F-P), while I5 forms its own segment.
Part 4 — The number is not the wattage
This is the single most important thing on this page. Model numbers are machine codes; the rated output is a separate figure.
| Model code | Actual rated output | Model |
|---|---|---|
| 2500 | 1200 W | HE200-2500-O |
| 3000 | 2000 W | HE200-3000-O-I5 |
| 4200 | 3600 W | HE200-4200-T |
| 4200 | 3000 W | HE300-4200-T ⚠️ same code, different output |
| 5000 | 5000 W / 6300 VA | HE310-5000-F |
| 6500 | 5500 W | HE200-6500-T |
| 7200 | 6200 W | HE200-7200-F · HE300-7200-F |
| 12000 | 12000 W | HE200-12000-F |
| 12000 | 11000 W | HE300-12000-F ⚠️ same code, different output |
Two things to take from the table:
- The code always exceeds the actual output. A 7200 is a 6200 W machine.
- The same code can mean different outputs across series. A 12000 code gives 12000 W on the HE200 line and 11000 W on the HE300 line. The series prefix is not decoration.

All-in-one and battery naming
| Model | Decode |
|---|---|
| L2-N1-300 | L2 line · N1 battery module count 1 · 300 W output |
| L2-N1T-500 | N1 + T (upgraded) · 500 W output · ≈1 kWh |
| L2-N2T-1200 | N2 two modules · 1200 W output · 2 kWh |
| H3-W2-4200 | H3 platform · W = outdoor · 2 modules · 3600 W · 2.56 kWh |
| H3-W8-6500 | H3 · W outdoor · 8 modules · 5000 W · 8 kWh |
| H3-W16-7200 | H3 · W outdoor · 16 modules · 6500 W · 16 kWh |
| H4-N8-4200 | H4 platform · N = indoor (IP21) · 8 modules · 3600 W |
| H3B-W16-48V | Battery · W outdoor · 16 modules · 48 V system · 16 kWh |
| H4B-N5-48V | Battery · N indoor · 5 modules · 48 V system · 5.12 kWh |
For the all-in-one lines, the number after the module letter is the module count, not the output.
Output topology codes
| Code | Meaning | Models |
|---|---|---|
| L+N+PE | Single phase — live, neutral, earth | HE200-2500-O · HE200-4200-T · HE300-4200-T · HE300-7200-F |
| L1+N1+L2+N2+PE | Dual output — main and secondary AC output | HE200-6500-T and above · HE200-12000-F · all P models |
The dual-output topology is what enables critical-load separation: the unit drops the secondary output when battery charge runs low.
Battery type codes (shown on the display)
| Code | Meaning |
|---|---|
| AGM | Lead-acid (factory default) |
| FLD | Gel / flooded |
| LIb | Ternary lithium |
| FEL | LiFePO4 |
| USE | User-defined (manual charge/discharge voltages when communication is unavailable) |
Quick decoding checklist
- Series — HE200, HE300, HE310, or an ESS/battery line.
- Machine code — look up the real output in the table above; never read it as watts.
- Voltage suffix — O = 12 V, T = 24 V, F = 48 V. This fixes the battery bank.
- P — parallel capability, up to 9 units.
- I5 — IP54 enclosure, a separate model with its own specification.
Get those five and a model name tells you the series, the real output, the battery voltage and the mounting environment.
